Keratin Revolution Smoothing Service

Keratin Treatments: What They Are, How They Work, and Why We Use Keratin Revolution

Keratin treatments (also called smoothing treatments) reduce frizz, soften texture, and make hair easier to manage. They don’t straighten hair permanently. They smooth it, seal it, and calm it down.

At the salon, we use Keratin Revolution Smoothing Treatments. After working with several systems over the years, this one delivers the most consistent results with the least compromise to hair health.

Here’s what you need to know.

What Is a Keratin Treatment?

A keratin smoothing treatment works by:

  • Replacing lost keratin in the hair

  • Sealing the cuticle

  • Reducing frizz and bulk

  • Improving shine and softness

Hair looks smoother, dries faster, and behaves better. Curl pattern stays intact unless you ask for more reduction.

Why We Use Keratin Revolution

Keratin Revolution stands apart from older keratin and smoothing systems.

  • Custom formulas based on hair type and goal

  • Focus on hair condition, not just smoothness

  • Designed to work with coloured, highlighted, and fragile hair

This is not a one-size-fits-all service. We choose the formula and processing method based on your hair.

Results You Can Expect

Frizz Control

  • Noticeably smoother hair

  • Reduced humidity reaction

  • No heavy or coated feeling

Easier Styling

  • Faster blow-dries

  • Less reliance on heat tools

  • Hair holds shape without fighting back

Shine and Softness

  • Light-reflective finish

  • Hair feels flexible, not stiff

  • Ends look healthier, not sealed shut

Longevity

  • Results last around 3–4 months

  • Depends on hair type, home care, and styling habits

Is a Keratin Treatment Right for You?

This service works well if you:

  • Struggle with frizz or puffiness

  • Want smoother hair without flatness

  • Have curly or wavy hair you don’t want to straighten

  • Colour your hair and want better manageability

It’s also a good option if your hair feels rough, dry, or inconsistent from roots to ends.

Will It Straighten My Hair?

No, not permanently.

A keratin treatment:

  • Smooths

  • Softens

  • Reduces bulk

It does not chemically straighten hair. Curl pattern remains, just calmer and easier to control.

If you want maximum curl reduction, we adjust technique. If you want movement, we keep it.

Aftercare Matters

To keep results looking good:

  • Use sulphate-free shampoo

  • Avoid harsh clarifying products

  • Space out washes when possible

We’ll give you clear aftercare advice based on your routine. Nothing fussy.

Final Thoughts

Keratin treatments get a bad reputation when they’re rushed, overdone, or poorly matched to the hair. That’s not how we work.

Keratin Revolution gives us control, flexibility, and predictable results — which means better hair days for you, without damage or drama.

If you’re considering a keratin or smoothing treatment and want honest guidance, book a consultation. We’ll tell you straight if it’s a good idea — or if it isn’t.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are Great Lengths hair extensions suitable for everyone?

Hair extensions are a cosmetic procedure and should only be applied to healthy hair. Hair must be at least 12 cm or 5” in length to ensure comfortable, discreet attachments.

There are some medical conditions that may leave a small minority of clients unsuitable for extensions. Suitability is discussed during a consultation – these are always free and no-obligation.

Will Great Lengths damage my natural hair?

No, Great Lengths will not damage the natural hair when applied by an expertly trained professional and are properly maintained.

Our unique bond is designed to mimic the structure of your natural hair. It is lightweight and flexible, allowing the extensions to work in harmony with your natural hair, never against it. These bonds have been scientifically proven not to cause damage to your hair or scalp when applied, maintained and removed correctly.

In fact, wearers often find that their natural hair has grown more, gotten thicker, and/or noticeably healthier, after their extensions have been removed!

How long does application take and how much hair will I need?

This depends on the desired outcome and the amount of extensions that are required, and if you have chosen  individual strands or GL Tapes . An estimated application time will be given during the consultation.

How long do Great Lengths Extensions last?

While in general, we recommend removal of Great Lengths pre-bonded extensions every 4-6 months, and removal of GL Tape systems every 6-8 weeks, both of these removal time-frames are dependent on a number of factors, such as:

  • The condition of the client’s natural hair, as well as how quickly it grows

  • Their lifestyle

  • The type of application (i.e. Was it to lengthen or to add volume; were full bonds or half bonds installed etc.)

  • The aftercare products that are used

  • And of course, how well the client follows the very important maintenance routine.

How much do Great Lengths Extensions cost?

This will vary from client to client, because Great Lengths are 100% customizable, there is no set price or “one size fits all” answer to the question of cost.

Costs are determined by the amount of hair required for desired outcome, plus the application time required during installation and cutting your new extensions.

Costs will be determined during the consultation prior to booking an appointment for installation.
